3M Scotch-Weld DP8407NS Gray 490ML Metal Bonder Acrylic Adhesive for Metal and Plastic Bonding
Product Overview
3M DP8407NS Gray 490ml, officially named 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Metal Bonder Acrylic Adhesive DP8407NS Gray, is a gray, high-performance, two-part acrylic structural adhesive. It offers excellent shear, peel and impact performance for bonding metals, plastics and other industrial materials. According to 3M technical data, DP8407NS provides strong adhesion to many plastics and metals, including slightly oily surfaces, and offers outstanding durability on metal substrates such as bare steel, copper, brass, bronze and galvanized steel, even under high-temperature and high-humidity environments.

Typical Applications
3M DP8407NS Gray 490ml is suitable for high-strength bonding of metal parts, plastic parts, coated surfaces and industrial structural components.
Typical applications include:
- Metal office furniture
- HVAC equipment
- Specialty vehicles, such as ambulances, trailers and fire trucks
- Recreational vehicles, such as snowmobiles and ATVs
- Signage
- Appliances
- Metal fabrication
- Bonding aluminum, cold rolled steel, copper, brass and bronze
- Bonding coated metals, some bare metals and most plastics
- Industrial assembly requiring impact resistance, durability and structural strength
Handling and Use Recommendations
- Avoid heavy pressure, dropping or cartridge deformation during handling.
- To obtain high-strength structural bonds, remove oils, dust, oxide films, mold release agents and other surface contaminants completely before bonding.
- When using a 490ml Duo-Pak cartridge, insert the cartridge into suitable 3M EPX dispensing equipment, dispense a small amount first to confirm that both components flow evenly, then attach the static mixing nozzle for dispensing.
- After dispensing, assemble the parts within the open time and keep them fixed during curing to prevent movement.
- The adhesive and all materials should be at 16°C / 60°F or above to achieve higher bond strength.
- Applying heat up to 66°C / 150°F can increase cure speed.
- Excess uncured adhesive can be cleaned with ketone-type solvents. When using solvents, keep away from ignition sources and follow the solvent manufacturer’s safety instructions.
