Product Overview

3M DP8410NS Green, officially known as 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Acrylic Adhesive DP8410NS Green, is a green, non-sag, toughened two-part acrylic structural adhesive designed for industrial bonding applications that require fast strength build, excellent shear strength, peel strength and impact performance. According to 3M technical data, DP8410NS provides improved adhesion to many plastics and metals, including some slightly oily surfaces, and develops structural strength in minutes.

This product has a 10:1 mix ratio. The mixed color is green, and the cured color is also green. According to 3M technical data, DP8410NS has a work life of approximately 10–12 minutes at 23°C, an open time of approximately 8 minutes, reaches structural strength in about 34–38 minutes, and fully cures in approximately 24 hours.

DP8410NS is suitable for bonding painted or coated metals, most plastics and some bare metals. 3M technical data also notes that this adhesive may accelerate corrosion on certain bare metals such as cold rolled steel, copper, brass and bronze, and that it has relatively low adhesion to low surface energy plastics such as polypropylene, polyethylene, TPO and PTFE. Applications involving these materials should be evaluated by the end user for suitability.

Key Features

  • Contains 0.010 inch glass beads to help control bond line thickness
  • Cure speed can be increased with applied heat
  • Approximately 10–12 minutes of work life for positioning and assembly
  • Reaches structural strength in approximately 34–38 minutes
  • Full cure time of approximately 24 hours

These features are based on the product description, product features and typical physical properties in the 3M DP8410NS technical data sheet.

Handling and Use Recommendations

  • Avoid heavy pressure, dropping or cartridge deformation during handling.
  • To obtain high-strength structural bonds, completely remove paint, oxide films, oils, dust, mold release agents and other surface contaminants before bonding.
  • When using Duo-Pak cartridges, insert the cartridge into a 3M EPX applicator, dispense a small amount first to confirm that both components flow evenly, then attach the static mixing nozzle for dispensing.
  • After dispensing, assemble the parts within the open time and keep them fixed during curing to prevent movement.
  • The adhesive and bonding materials should be kept at 16°C / 60°F or above for proper curing; applying heat up to 66°C / 150°F can increase cure speed.
  • Excess uncured adhesive can be cleaned with ketone-type solvents. When using solvents, keep away from ignition sources and follow the solvent manufacturer’s safety instructions.
